About the team

The award winning team behind FIREWORKS are writer/director Hannah Robinson, screenwriter Jonathan R Hall and Producer Wendy Griffin.

FIREWORKS was co-written by Hannah & Jonathan who first worked together on a short film IN THE MOOD, starring Kelly Brook as a tap dancing German spy. Their first draft of FIREWORKS won the Grand Prize in the American Screenwriters Association International Script Competition,  Silver in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards for Drama,  and the financial support of the Wellcome Trust. Producing this Indie comedy is Wendy Griffin whose CV includes Oscar winner Andrea Arnold’s debut feature RED ROAD; Morag Mackinnon’s BAFTA nominated comedy-drama DONKEYS; Annie Griffin’s BAFTA winning black-comedy FESTIVAL; David Mackenzie’s BAFTA Nominated indie rom-com YOU INSTEAD; and most recently NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING, a rom-com starring Karen Gillen.

They are joined by Casting director Simone Pereira Hind who’s features include ELIZABETH starring Cate Blanchett, HILARY & JACKIE starring Emily Watson & Rachel Griffiths, and JUDE starring Christopher Ecclestone & Kate Winslet.

Hannah is a Scottish writer director with a raft of prize winning short films under her belt – NIGHT SWIMMER won the Grand Prix at Vendôme Film Festival, SHEILA won Best European director in Rome, and IN THE MOOD – featuring Kelly Brook as a tap-dancing German spy – won silver in Mumbai and was a worldwide feel good festival hit. Her feature screenplays in development include TESLA GIRL and FAMILY PLANNING, and she also works as script consultant to the comedian, actor and writer Lenny Henry.

Co-Writer: Jonathan Hall

Jonathan is a regular writer on BBC 1 drama DOCTORS (25 episodes and nominated for Best Episode at the 2008 Soap Awards). He has a TV project in development with Sprout Pictures (Stephen Fry), another in development with Wall to Wall Productions, and a feature under option to Pistachio Pictures. Jonathan’s latest screenplay, THE PAUL BEARERS, was finalist in the Blue Cat Script competition. Jonathan has also written and produced two award-winning short films, IN THE MOOD a comedy starring Kelly Brook and MR THORNTONS CHANGE OF HEART starring Nickolas Grace and Annette Badland.

Producer: Wendy Griffin

Wendy has worked in film and television for 20 years in role as both producer and line producer. She has line produced feature films such as FESTIVAL, RED ROAD, DONKEYS and YOU INSTEAD and TV such as PRAMFACE series 1 and 2 for BBC. She produced microbudget feature film WASTED (funded by Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland) and most recently was co-producer on feature film NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING, which had the honour of being invited to close the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Executive Producer: Claire Mundell

Claire is a multi award winning producer and executive producer working across both feature film and television drama. Feature credits include CRYING WITH LAUGHTER, WEEKEND and NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING. She is Chair of BAFTA in Scotland and consults widely on the industry in Scotland.
